Strathcona Micro-Dwelling Social Housing
In Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood, Pender Street Social Housing is envisioned as a contemporary, community-minded addition along East Pender Street—bringing new rental homes to an established, walkable urban setting. Designed by Human Studio Architecture + Urban Design, the mid-rise building is shaped to sit comfortably within its context, with a calm architectural expression and an emphasis on day-to-day livability for residents.
The project is organized around efficient homes supported by shared amenity and resident-oriented outdoor space, aiming to strengthen housing stability while contributing positively to the public realm. With lane-oriented servicing and a thoughtful approach to circulation and common areas, it’s positioned as a practical, well-composed piece of city-building—adding much-needed housing in a way that respects the neighbourhood and supports long-term community resilience.
